It is interesting that the name of this forum is Green Guppies, and that is what I am breeding--Green Guppies.
Anybody involved with green guppies, the fish that is, let's talk about breeding them.
Hi Henry, and welcome to the forum.

Yes, Green Guppies! I called this site that on the strength that I too breed greens, although I wanted it to be a site of a general nature.

What sort of greens do you have?
Hats off to you Henry ! I believe that trying to keep a Green strain is probably one of the most challenging ! I find that blue is a lot stronger gene than green and must ruthlessly cull to keep that green the shade you like
You got it right, James.
Hi Green:
I got my original trio from Stan Shubel, a breeder I really trust. However, the original male was more blue than green. The females were virgin, which is one of the things I like about dealing with Stan. The females had beautiful blue tails. I am now into the fourth generation of two strains, one from each each of the two female. I am getting a whole lot of blues. Which are, nevertheless, are very beautiful.
By the way, Green.
Would very much like to see some photos of your Greens.
Sorry Green, I did not answer your original question. Stan calls them "Russion Greens."

As many will notice , breeders are a bit hesitant to sell fish with a true green color because it is so hard to maintain, usually the true green ones are used for showing, I've recieved so called green fish as (off blue) to almost all black with a (greenish tint)but with every generation theres that certain few that show promise of getting closer to fixing that color strain

I am going to continue this thread in the "General Discussion" area as it is developing in to a broader guppy related thread Smile
