I am running a 20-ft hose from my vacuum device to outside the house. I can't be running all the way out there to suck on the hose to get the vacuum started. I need either a siphon primer (bulb ?) or a power system of some kind.
Any recommendations will be much appreciated.
By the way, I hate the Python system that hooks up to the sink faucet.
That sounds quite an impressive system there, Henry. I still use 3 feet of medium caliber tank line and manually start it in to a bucket
Did you come up with a solution. I'd be interested to hear

Do you have any house plants? Keep some of the water to water them with, they love it and it's a great fertilizer!
Haven't got a vacuum tool yet myself or hose so I use the 6' tube from my hand held shower and put the water into 2 1/2 gal containers. I must admit, a mouth full of aquarium water isn't my idea of fun, yuck! I suppose as long as the fish are healthy it wouldn't hurt you but it's still not pleasant! Keep us posted on what you end up getting, I'd like to know so I have an idea of what I need to get.
I've been doing that with the mucky water and the houseplants really do love it. Maybe a bit too much...My magic bean plant is threatening to crawl out the window and start grabbing people.

Wow! Those must be some beans!
What are Magic Beans? Sound like something I should get to help cover my livingroom window! My plan, plants vs. curtains! I love plants, can't have too many of them.
I had my guppies for 2 days and now I've got babies! My second tank hasn't finished cycling yet either! My snails and pleco's seem to have the same thing on their mind's too! I may have a full house soon!
My plants love fishy water more than they do Miracle Grow! :
The magic bean was one of those...Hmm, easier to show than explain:
http://www.magicbeanforyou.com/home.html Bought it last year because it was on sale, and now its all over the place, very neat. And yeah, it seems to react better to the fishy water than to "real" plant food.
WOW! Cool plant, I gotta get me one of those, maybe next month! I spent all my "extra" (ha, ha, ha) money on the fishies this month and, of course, my dog! They aren't on sale anymore but if it grows that well it'll be worth it! Does it really say "I Love You" on each bud? Wonder how they did that! I book marked their site so I'll be able to find it again. Thanks!
I had actually found mine at Target, and mine said "True Love" on one side and a heart on the other. That part popped out of the can FAST, as in, less than a week after adding water it had broken the surface fully. It grows crazy fast and is a vine type plant (found out that its actually a Sword Bean plant, and if planted outside in hot areas like Florida it can get over 10 ft. tall!) After the first month I'd transplant it to a largish pot, or outdoors depending on where you live. Mine actually bloomed and made really pretty light purple flowers. Scared the hell out of me though because it did a growth spurt and started forming I didn't know what.

I like the battery operated pumps that have attachments for gravel vacuuming or glass scraping or such, and they attach to a wide diameter flexible tubing (although I put a hose clamp on the end of mine, if you use one with any long length of tubing the weight can drag it off of the pump) problem is I have a hard time finding these things, and parts break from time to time, no way to replace parts so far. You might be happier with the large size siphon cleaner from biorb. They have a squeeze bulb that starts the siphon (no sucking or trying to get it going through immersion) plus the bigger ones have a little switch that stops the water, ideal for moving the thing from one tank to the other without having to restart your siphon. I have no commercial interest in biorb or this online store. I only picked it from the multitudes that carry this thing because the description was a little better. Shop around for prices, etc.
